vietnam tours

Built on small island in the most peaceful and beautiful lake of Hoan Kiem, Ngoc Son temple is well known for foreign tourists with its four main gods of three religions living happily together in a temple. It is the unique character of Vietnamese cultures and an interesting destination.

At first, Ngoc Son temple was built for the dedication to Guan Wu, a Chinese general in Han Dynasty. After the first restoration, it was called Ngoc Son pagoda and worshiped buddha and Guan Wu as well.

However, in 1841 it was repaired and widened as it looks at the moment. The temple worships Guan Wu, the saint of Taoist literature, the patron saint of medicine (one of eight Taoist saints) and Tran Hung Dao (1226-1300) who is a Vietnamese general, scholar and master of the martial arts known as Saint Tran - a great leader of Vietnamese army gained the victory against Mongolian invaders for three times (1258, 1285 and 1288).

Ms. Nhung was very sweet and refreshingly honest, very likeable. Mr. Tam was fantastic, highly knowledgeable and funny. Probably our best "tour" was the day we spent on motor bikes visiting the tombs near Hue. The bikes allow for a much more intimate view of the countryside. And then - as I wrote - Mr. An was absolutely the best guide ever...Read more
